SHOUTcast is a multiplatform freeware audio streaming technology, developed by Nullsoft. SHOUTcast uses MP3 or AAC encoding of audio content and HTTP (though multicast can be used) as the transport protocol to broadcast web radio, also known as Internet radio. Both servers and clients are available for Windows, FreeBSD, GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris and Windows Mobile (client only).

Where can I get shoutcast?

The shoutcast software can be found at www.shoutcast.com.

What do i need to listen to shoutcast streams?

You can listen to shoutcast streams with any ordinary mp3 player like winamp or windows media player.

How does a stream-status look like?

In the upper right corner of this page you can see an example shoutcast status.

What is the default port of shoutcast streams?

The default port is usually 8000 or 8080. Please ask the server administrators for further guidance if you can't find out which port to use.
