My clan wishes to prevent our ventrilo server from being scanned, as other clans use knowledge of how many people we have online to a tactical advantage.

We have been using teamspeak until a few days ago, and it was possible to prevent it being scanned, but is this possible in ventrilo too?

So far we have hidden names of channels and users by unchecking 'Require remote status "show login name"' but we would really like to be able to block it showing the numbers of users online.

is there a way to block nanospy entirely from our server?

Hi Enzock2,

"blocking" nanospy is not going to help as other ventrilo monitoring websites also exist.

Most server hosts will not let you access the full range of Ventrilo "remote" functions as some can be used for their own monitoring to confirm your server is operational.

In general the best you can hope for is to turn off the the "remote statusing returns" and untick everything.
